Rainbow Falls Hike

Adam and I took our dog, Elise and went for a hike up Rainbow Falls today. It was great exercise and BEAUTIFUL picture opportunities. I took over 100 pictures, and so I plan on posting the best few of the up here for your viewing pleasure. If you have never been to Wrangell, Rainbow falls is "out the road" near where the institute used to be... right near Shoemaker bay. One can normally find Shoemaker on a map, so go ahead and look it up. :)

Looking toward Shoemaker from the trail.

Rainbow falls is completely frozen over! It was BEAUTIFUL. This picture does it no justice.

Nice weather in January!

We have had some interestingly nice weather here in Wrangell for a January. It is rather disconcerting that we still have a few months to go before it is actually spring, and our weather is THIS nice! It must mean that Spring has come early, (Although I doubt it) or that we are in for some crap-tastic weather. (I tend to think that March is coming in like a lion and will probably start in a few days, not let up for 3 months, and then we'll have summer).

Here are some of the pictures I took just the other day:

Whale Watching

Approximately two months ago we had a pod of Humpback Whales come by our community and take up residence in the bay. There was one time I was actually able to get good pictures of them spouting.

An Island Community

I've started my new blog today to show my friends, family and the world (if they want) my little corner of the globe.
I moved just over a half of a year ago to the quiet island community of Wrangell, Alaska. Since I have been here, I have taken many scenic pictures, and yet, I have no where to show them off. I want people to see the beauty in the world around us. I want to share the world the way I see it. I hope to post pictures that I have taken on this blog, and make them accessible to the world. So that they may see how beautiful my corner of the globe is.
